The association was founded in 2000 by local artists´ associations, and 
individual artits. Konsti - the Arts and Design Association and the 
Seinäjoki Fine Arts Association are the member associations at the moment.

The old buildings offer now an inspiriting working environment for the artists. 
The artists working in the studios have built their own studios on a voluntary basis!

The rebuilding work was made possible thanks to the support of the EU and the town 
of Seinäjoki.In addition, the artists whipped round for money by miscellaneous happenings. 
Several cultural foundations granted the Varikko Association awards and grants.
